September 27th 2014

Unfortunately when show and tell started today I was getting my lunch so I don't know who made everything.   I'll note which ones I do know of course.

Jan F made this soft and fluffy cowl

These two skeins were made by Pam on her new Aura wheel

Not sure who made this merino and silk skein.

Rainbow socks by Rachelle

A needle and pin holder

A cape, possibly by Kerry?

Fran's lovely shawl

and a close up of the shawl.  This was made from leftovers

Skeins by Paula; there's 1km of yarn in the brown alpaca!

September 20 2014

What a lovely day, the weather was marvellous (despite the weather forcast of doom and gloom); hopefully everyone got their voting done either before or after guild.

Today was very busy, there was a tapestry weaving class which seemed to be going well, we had the Creative Fibre president in to visit as well as the previous holder of that office  and a lot of our members as well.   We also had some visitors which was lovely!

For the display table there was only a small selection but everything there was beautifully made.

Rachelle's placemats using 8/2 cotton in a twill weave

Rachelle's Drop Leaf Shawlette using handspun merino from Heavenly Wools

Pam's gorgeous polwarth/silk yarn, the colours just glow.

Jenny has been busy makig this shoulder wrap; it's a little too short for a scarf but would wrap around the shoulders just beautifully for a night out.

Another of Jenny's scarves in a luscious red this time.

All the teatowels made for the guild by our members.

Pat Old brought these Kete that she had woven to show us; lovely pieces

Fran's Haruni shawl using a lovely handspun yarn.

a detail shot where you can see the touch of green in the yarn that just makes it perfect.
Unfortunately I can't make it to the opening tonight, so I hope everyone has a great time!

Opening Night

Don't forget it's our opening night tonight, open to all members and invited guests.   Starting at 5pm and finishing at 7pm at 11 Tanner St; see you there!

Saturday 13th September 2014

Unfortunately I don't know who made most of the items I photographed today as I had to leave at 12pm due to family commitments.  You can still enjoy them all though, even if I can't give credit.

A gorgeous kiwi jumper

2 beanies

bookmarks worked on an inkle loom; I think by Jan

Pam spun this from Artemisartemis fibre; it's beautiful and soft too.

Pam had also just finished this lovely wee skein, I don't know what it is but I love it.

7th September 2014

Things are starting to come together in our rooms.  The library is mostly unpacked and shelved and the big loom is going up this week as well.   The sign up sheet for beginner weaver and spinner classes is filling up too and we're getting a good turnout from existing members on Saturdays.

Rosemary made this a long time ago, she brought it in as we're doing a Pi Shawl challenge at the moment

This is one Pauline made some years back; same maths completely different result.

Jan made this feels lovely

Valerie has been busy making tea towels; too lovely to use I think.

Anne B made this tea towel, I think this one is gorgeous!

We think this was Kerry's, but she wasn't there so it is a guess

Another one by Kerry possibly.

Lynn made these blue tea towels, thicker than the others which will I suspect make them nice and thirsty.
Not sure who made these, love the colours.

and more lovely teal and blue tea towels

We are fairly sure this is Heather's work, but once again she wasn't there to confirm or deny.

Carol spun this lovely yarn dyed by Anna.

And finally, Meg has been busy making mittens

As you can tell the display table was fairly full this time, we all love seeing what everyone has made and I enjoy showing them to everyone who wasn't there!
